My New Plan

I decided that next school year, I will work it. And by 'work it,' I mean I WILL WORK IT! I've made a list of what I've started doing, and what I'll be doing this year in order to get a head-start on becoming what I want to be:

  • I'll be losing a bit of weight. OK, a lot of weight. But I really need to! I'm quite big, and even though I'm fine with it, others might not be, and it really isn't all about what I think of myself, is it? Well, that's what everyone says, that it all depends on what you think of yourself, but I respectfully disagree. I can't fully not care at all what people think of me. I want people to like me and to want to know me. I depend on attention to get myself through the day. So if I lose weight and get a better-looking body, I believe that I will be able to carry myself in a way that'll get me more attention. I'm totally cool with the way my body looks, but a thinner bod would be so much better.
  • I'll be growing my nails. I just really want some longer nails! I always peel of my nails out of habit, but I'm trying to stop. I want to grow my nails out long so I can wear nail strips, of which I bought myself a pack.
  • I'll be completely re-vamping my wardrobe. I'll be posting another entry for this one, hopefully tomorrow!
  • I'll be growing my hair longer. Again, this'll be mentioned in a future entry!
That's all I can think of so far, I'll add to the list! It's like I'll be giving myself a full-on makeover, and I can't wait!

x

(That's another thing I'll be doing, finishing my entries with an x. It's cool.)

Unfortunately I'm Far Too Lazy to Complete the 30-Day Challenges.

So it'll take quite a while to finish them. I'll still finish them, probably, but I won't do them every day. I haven't gotten much Internet in the past few so there's my excuse. I'm going to a new entry now, to blog about my whole new plan!

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 09

Your favourite era.

Dangerous! I have a concert DVD from that era. :D

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 09

(I still need time to figure out my answer to the 8th challenge.)

What would be your favourite lesson?

I know this may make me seem like a fangirl, but I would like Defense Against the Dark Arts, but only if Remus Lupin was teaching it. He was obviously the best DADA professor Hogwarts has had in a long time. But, unfortunately, he's not with us anymore, so I'd probably enjoy Tranfiguration!

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 09

Your favourite Kurt/Mercedes moment.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

I think my favourite moment (so far!) would be at the end of the second (?) episode; the episode in which Mercedes thinks that she and Kurt are a couple. At the end of the episode, Mercedes goes up to Kurt and apologizes for busting his front window. And then Kurt comes out to her. He starts crying when he tells her he's gay. Mercedes look a little taken aback at first but then she comforts him and tells him that he should be proud of himself and all that nice stuff I can't really remember. I just think it was a great moment that really defined their friendship.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 08

A photo that makes you go "UNF!"

As a side note, I'm waiting until tomorrow to post Day 8 of the Harry Potter challenge.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 08

Your favourite Quinn/Puck moment.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

Uh, what moments were there? I didn't ever see any signs of any actual relationship. I only saw the odd kind moment and the knocking up. I guess I liked the moment when he tried to give her money for the baby. Also, when he sang "Beth," because even though I didn't like the cover, it was a nice sentiment.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 07

A photo that makes you laugh.

How adorable and goofy!

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 07

What House would you want to be in?

Well, let's see. There's Gryffindor, with only the bravest, Slytherin, with only the purest, Ravenclaw, with only the smartest, and Hufflepuff, with only the particularily good finders with only with the hard workers. I don't know which one I'd like to be in the most, because I'm sure I'd be happy in any of them.
I'd be happy in Gryffindor, because being sorted into Gryffindor would prove I'm brave. I always wonder if I'm brave or not. It'd be nice to know if I'm brave enough to be a Gryffindor. I'd be able to say I was sorted into the same house as Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom.
I'd be happy in Slytherin, because although most wizards who've gone bad were in Slytherin, I'd love to try and prove the stereotype wrong. If anyone brought up Draco Malfoy, I'd explain to them that although he made some wrong choices, he really was on our side. If anyone brought up Severus Snape, I'd tell them that although Snape wasn't a nice man, he was deffinitely a good man, in one way or another.
I'd be happy in Ravenclaw, and, to be honest, I think that's where I would most likely end up, if I were ever truly sorted. I'm bright, and I'm clever. I'm also a little strange, like Luna! As a Ravenclaw, I believe I would make it my duty to become a Prefect, and eventually Head Girl of Ravenclaw. Yes, I quite like that idea!
I'd be happy in Hufflepuff, because Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders mostly in the background during the series, which would give me a great excuse to try my best to stand out! I would do something so great that the Headmaster or Headmistress of Hogwarts would mention it in a speech to all the students and faculty (and ghosts!) and I would get insane recognition from whatever it is that I did.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 07

Your favourite Tina/Artie moment.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

I can't have a favourite moment of a relationship I didn't even enjoy.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 06

Whatever tickles your fancy.

Can't be bothered to come up with something for this.

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 06

Your favourite male character and why.

(Spoilers)

Ever since Prisoner of Azkaban came out, Remus Lupin has been my favourite character. He's just incredible. I can't describe the love I have for him. He was turned into a werewolf at such a young but he was one of the most caring characters in the series. Sure, he pushed people away, but that was because he loved them too much to harm them. He didn't want anybody around him during the transformation because he didn't want anyone he loved, or anyone at all, to get hurt because of him. He was the best Defence Against the Dark Arts professor Harry ever had. He helped Harry create a Patronus. He did so much for Harry because he wanted to protect his friend's son, and in turn, he became a father figure to Harry. I was incredibly upset when he died:
As Ginny and Hermione moved closer to the rest of the family, Harry had a clear view of the bodies lying next to Fred: Remus and Tonks, pale and still and peaceful-looking, apparently asleep beneath the dark, enchanted ceiling.
He didn't even get a death scene. I threw my book when I came across this. Can you blame me? It's always upsetting when one's favourite character dies.
I like to think that he was killed while trying to protect Tonks. That Tonks ran all around the castle looking for him, and when she finally found him and joined him in battle, he yelled at her to run and hide, because he wanted her to be safe, if not for him, for his son, which gave Dolohov a chance to cast the Killing Curse.

RIP, Professor.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 06

Your favourite Rachel/Finn moment.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

Probably their duet in the episode "Duets". It's hilarious!

(The next few posts will probably be short due to lack of will and post-Potter depression.)

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 05

A photo of MJ from the year you were born.

Maybe you can guess what year I was born in by this photo?

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 05

Least favourite female character and why.

Ginny. She really gets on my nerves. I don't know why. Probably because of the way she's portrayed in the film adaptations. I just don't like her as a character. I feel like Harry could've done better. I would've liked him ending up with Cho Chang, y'all.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 05

Your favourite duet.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

I'd say "Sing!" by Tina & Mike Chang. It's so fun, and Mike Chang is adorable in the performance! I think it's hilarious that he can't sing but he's in Glee club, and the performance just made me love Mike Chang as a character. IRL I think I would love to be friends with Mike Chang, based on that performance.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 04

Your favourite short film.

Probably Black or White, because I love how it explores different cultures, in a way. I loved the intro with Macaulay Culkin; he was so cute! I feel like the video is part of pop culture history; not just because it was MJ, but because it's part of Macaulay Culkin's career as a child actor.
I also really like Thriller, for obvious reasons. It's spooky, fun and all-around quality. I know the Thriller dance, too, and it's really fun to dance along to! I feel like I'm in the video with Michael when I do it!
Oh, and speaking of Thriller, last Halloween I dressed up as Michael from that video. The body makeup was incredibly politically incorrect but I looked awesome. I won the award for Creepiest Costume... still don't know how I feel about that. They played Thriller at my school's Halloween dance and I went and did the dance and everyone went crazy and I was famous for five minutes. It was groovy.

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 04

Are there any parts of the film adaptations that have made you angry?

I can sum this up in four words:

Order of the Phoenix.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 04

Your favourite solo.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

Deffinitely "Dancin' With Myself" by Artie/ Kevin Mchale! I love it so much. I sing along to it all the time. I didn't like it at first because I'm so used to the original version but it totally grew on me. The cover's incredibly groovy and I suggest you all give it a listen, even if you don't watch Glee.
I like how it's really easy for me to sing along to it, it's in my key and I just have to sing an octave higher than Kevin, and I like the way our voices sound together! I've recorded a cover of the song but I haven't uploaded it to Youtube yet; I'm too scared to. Oh, well.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 03

Your favourite MJ quote.

Again, a really short post. Like, four sentences short.

"And I remember going to the record studio and there was a park across the street and I'd see all the children playing and I would cry because it would make me sad that I would have to work instead."

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 03

Your favourite movie.

This'll also be a short entry. I think my favourite movie is Prisoner of Azkaban because in my opinion it's the most faithful to the book. Also, I like Half-Blood Prince because of the memory of seeing it. I went with my friends Sam and Ally and we were dressed like Death Eaters.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 03

Your favourite group performance.

** ATM I've watched up to "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

One of my favourite group performances would be "Don't Stop Believin'" from the very first episode. I liked it so much because it shows the hope they have for Glee Club. I think that it's a quality performance, even though it was just for Mr. Schuester.

I know this is a really short post but I can't really think of a good explanation.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 02

Your favourite album, and favourite song off that album.

I think my favourite album would be one of these three: Dangerous, Invincible, and Thriller. I think they're all really good for dancing, and I think that as much as Michael loved to dance, he loved to make other people dance.
My favourite song off of Dangerous is Jam, because it's a great song to dance to! When I'm home alone, I like to pretend I'm performing that song in front of a huge crowd to pump them up for the show. I run around yelling the lyrics, and it's just a lot of fun for me!
As for Invincible, I think my favourite song off that is Threatened. It's so catchy and, again, it just makes me want to dance! When I listen to the song, it gives me power, and it makes me think incredibly highly of myself, for some reason. It's just a great song to listen to.
My favourite song off of Thriller is probably also my favourite MJ song all-around. Human Nature. It's beautiful. The vocals, the beat, the rhythm, all of it is beautiful. I remember hearing it just after Michael's passing in 2009 and crying my eyes out. I feel like MJ tries to justify something in that song.

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 02

Your favourite book.

I'd have to say my favourite book is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I loved Sirius and the entire plotline was gold. I haven't read the books in a while, but if you ask me, the third book is when things start to get real for Harry. Sure in Philosopher's Stone, he finds out he's a wizard and defeats Voldemort again, and in Chamber of Secrets he kills the horcrux, but in Prisoner of Azkaban, he's faced with a supposed murderer out to get him, and he finds out that Sirius was innocent all along. Now that Sirius is on the run from Wizard cops, I think Harry realises the danger that surrounds him and his family. I say "family" instead of "friends" because they really are the only family he has left. I think he realises that he has to protect himself and the ones he loves, and he realises that the Wizarding World is actually full of danger and lies.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 02

** ATM I've watched up to "Never Been Kissed" but I am familiar with the storyline and character appearances with Season 2. Damn spoilers. **

Your favourite male character.

My favourite male character is definitely Artie! I think that he's hilarious and really shows how diverse New Directions is. I mean, it's got people of different races, but I feel like because people always focused on the concept of integration as racial, we tend to forget about people who are handicapped. I'm really happy that there's a wheelchair-confined kid on the show. That being said, he isn't my favourite because he's in a wheelchair. I love how talented Kevin Mchale is; that boy can SING! He's also a really good dancer, even though we don't see much of that on the show.
Where I am in the show now, he's in a relationship with Brittany, and I really like them as a couple. I think that they're great together and I really wish it'd worked out.

Another two favourites of mine are Kurt and Blaine. I love how Kurt can get attention in a scene without even talking. I think he's hilarious and I admire how strong he is. Like I've said before, I love how close he is to Mercedes, and I love their friendship.
I like Blaine because he's a great friend to Kurt and he's got a lot of talent. I just generally like him as a character on the show. Also, I like him because he's played by Darren Criss, who's totally awesome.

I know that I didn't post yesterday or the day before, but I'm going to try and make up for it today, ok? Ok.

30-Day Michael Jackson Challenge: Day 01

When and how were you first introduced to MJ?

I can't really remember exactly the time I first found out about him, because I've kind of always known about him. But my earliest clear memory of him happened in 2004 or 2005.
I was at my friend Kasey's house with our moms, and we were watching 13 Going on 30 on DVD. (It's definitely one of my favourite movies.) In one scene, Jenna goes to a party, and it's dying. She gets the DJ to put on Thriller and the crowd does the dance and saves the night. I remember Kasey and I got up and started trying to do the dance too! It was so much fun, even though I don't really remember it as awesomely as I'd hoped.
After that, I started listening to MJ quite a bit. At my 13th birthday party, we played Thriller (we have a cd from 1982!) and tried to do the dance, even though none of us knew it, so we ended up just doing the "zombie claws" that everyone else does.

I know this was kind of short, but I'm just getting started with these 30-Day things.

30-Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 01

Are you excited about The Deathly Hallows movie or scared it won’t do the book justice?

Both. I've loved the series for as long as I can remember; like many others I grew up with it. The movies are good, but they don't always do the books justice.
I'd say that although I was excited at first about the movie coming out, I've heard things about the movie. I know that it isn't exactly a valid source of information, but I heard on Tumblr that "The Prince's Tale" was cut from the movie. I have to say, this had better not be true! "The Prince's Tale" has got to be one of the most important chapters in the book, because it reveals so much about Snape. If I go to watch DH II and it's not in the movie, I don't know what I'll do with myself.
I feel like although the previous movies have left out crucial information, the last movie will do the book as much justice as it can with the missing pieces.

30-Day Glee Challenge: Day 01

Your favorite female character.

My favourite female character would probably be Brittany S. Pierce. I think she's hilarious and that she definitely deserves more scenes about her. (I'd like to point out right now that I've only watched the first season and the first four episodes of the second season. She might've gotten more scenes, but I don't know.)
She's totally clueless, and quite dim at times, but I think that that's what makes her adorable and hilarious. Everything she says puts a little grin on my face (props to the actress, Heather Morris. I heard most of her lines were improvised.) I loved Brittany in the Brittney Spears episode, and I would love it if future episodes focused on her.
In a way, I feel bad for her. She's so clueless at times in the show and I'm amazed that she's been able to pass her classes. Actually, when I think about it, she could be booksmart, or "intelligent", without being "smart." There's a difference, I swear! I would love to see an episode where a subject comes up and Brittany knows all about it. (And by "subject," I mean something other than hairography.)

Another character I love is Mercedes. She's totally awesome! I love how confident she is with her body. I'm confident with mine as well, but not that confident, and I definitely respect her for that. I love that she's a diva and that she's so close with Kurt. She was so supportive when he came out to her. That's another thing about her that I respect. I really wished that the relationship she had with Puck was legitimate, instead of Puck just using her to stay popular. I think she could've easily straightened him out!
I also love that she took Quinn in during the last part of her pregnancy. I really don't like Quinn, but I respect what Mercedes did for her. I know I've been using the word "respect" a lot here, but I have nothing but respect and admiration for Mercedes.
I hope that there will be another episode concerning body image, particularly her body image. I know that there was an episode like that in season 1, but I didn't really think it covered the subject that well.

30 Day Challenges

Seeing as I haven't really been posting as much as I would've liked to, I've decided to use these 30-Day challenges from Tumblr as an excuse to post. (Or rather, a reason to post.) I'm using challenges from this Tumblr page. I decided that multiple challenges would be better than just one because then I can make myself write as much for a post as I want!
I've chosen challenges for three subjects: Glee, Michael Jackson, and Harry Potter. There are two Harry Potter challenges that I've copy-pasted into a Word document, so I decided to post both questions, but only answer one. Also, a question in one of the HP challenges is supposed to be posted before the final movie comes out. Seeing as that's only in a few days, I'll switch it with the original first question of the challenge.
Ready? Here we gooooooooooooooooo!

A Post About Glee.

I hated Glee with a burning passion when it first came out. Seriously. I thought it was the worst thing to happen to television and music simultaneously since Hannah Montana. Every time someone brought it up, I'd scoff about the shaky camera angles and poor covers. That was 2009, and it's now 2011 (obviously), and I guess that after two years of this, it's about time I eat my words.
Now that the show's taken a summer hiatus between the second and third season, my mother's been talking about how
"We should get into Glee."
"We need to start watching Glee."
"I think we'd really like Glee."
About a week ago I gave in and we started the first episode of the first season online. And, to my bewilderment, it was actually pretty good! I guess I just never gave it a chance because I never got a chance to watch it and the first of their covers that I'd ever heard was "Jessie's Girl" (which really wasn't that good). I ended up really liking the first episode and the characters, which I never thought I'd do.
My mother and I watched the entire first season online and we've started the second. I think we're about two episodes in. We'll probably catch up in another week and be forced to suffer the hiatus along with other Glee fans!
Although I'm a fan of the series now, I don't at all consider myself a Gleek or whatever the fans call themselves. I like the show but I still find faults. I can't stand how shaky the angles can get and there are quite a few continuity errors. Although I like the actors' and actresses' voices, there are some covers I really can't listen to (like the previously mentioned "Jessie's Girl").
That's kind of all I have to say for now.
Hey, remember when I said I'd update every week?
